Topping the list is all of you, of course! I love having a community of women to discuss and share living the "laid-off lifestyle." And to also discuss issues, seek encouragement, foster hope - the list could go on and on!
I'm also knocked away by the spirit of the below blogs and sites, and I hope you will be, too!
- The Sartorialist - Fashion in its most beautiful form. An Indiana-native and former fashion industry insider shares photos of his top pics for style on the streets of New York City, Italy and France. It's beauty in its rawest form - some of the civilians may look like models, but alas - it's the confidence that tricks you! It makes me think outside-of-the-box when it comes to fashion, and appreciate it in all forms.
- Broke Hipster - A daily listing of free and cheap events, attractions, activities, food and drinks in the city. I would call to double-check events and promotions before, as they say they've been passed some "bum information," but I haven't had a problem.
- Centerstage Daily Deal$- Unlike other sites, Centerstage makes it really easy to find a deal. Enter the day, the area, the type of deal and any keywords, and you have instant results. I used it to find a dining deal when I didn't feel like cooking, and found out that Trader Todd's, 3216 N. Sheffield Ave., has half-price night every Monday. Again, call before to make sure the deal's still good.
- Hot Tix - Half-price tickets to Chicago's theaters. Awesome!
- Post Secret - This wildly popular site posts readers' heartbreaking, inspiring and comical secrets. Every Sunday, Frank Warren posts the postcard secrets he has selected out of thousands that are mailed, and sets them in front of million of readers' eyes.
- Whole Living - The online companion to the magazine Body + Soul (which Kate subscribes to and I steal and read every month!), it offers tips to achieve the me I want to be - nourished and whole inside and out. Even the magazine's artwork is relaxing and soothing.
Sites that make me laugh ... a lot:
- There, I fixed it.
Share some of your favs!
xoxo,
Lisa Marie
