Don't forget to enter to win a $50 Burlington Coat Factory gift card!
I don't know about you, but I admire art in lieu of owning art. I like to enter the city's little boutiques and galleries to search for discounted goods, but I leave with a creative spark and a plan to save money by creating the art I adored on the store's walls.
It is awfully harrowing to start an art project but my neighbor, Pat, suggested a quick, cheap alternative to buying expensive wall decorations.
All you'll need is a blank artist canvas, fabric and a staple gun. There's probably less-dangerous ways to adhere fabric to the canvas, so if you're clumsy, like me, ask a sales associate at the craft store if there's glue you can use instead.
I picked out two different size canvases and bought two of each. I then found a patterned fabric that matched my room and carefully folded the fabric around the edges, stapled it and voila! Instant art! Since I had different size canvases, I was able to play around with the placement on my wall, which really spices up a room.
I picked one fabric, but you could pick as many different patterns and colors as you want - go crazy! Depending on the pattern, you can even add a splash of fun by adding a feather, button or other embellishment that accents the fabric.
I originally used the canvas as a headboard, which was the perfect alternative to buying an expensive bedroom set. I had a bed frame and then placed the fabric-covered canvas over it to act as a decorative headboard.
The options are endless and it's an easy project with eye-catching results - it's time to start your masterpiece!
Xoxo,
Lisa Marie
