It's a little weird to hear, right?
A day celebrating a pastry?
But who are we to judge? It's National Doughnut Day, and here at LaidoffLadies.com, we'll celebrate free food any day!
That's right! Dunkin' Donuts is giving away a free doughnut for customers after they purchase a beverage at participating locations. So when you stop at the drive-thru for your morning coffee, don't forget to ask for your free doughnut!
Not only is today great because of the free treat, I also did some research and found out from the Holiday Insights Website that our very own city played a hand in today!
According to the Website:
"National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise much-needed funds during the Great Depression, and to honor the work of World War I Salvation Army volunteers who prepared doughnuts and other foods for thousands of soldiers."
How cool and interesting is that?
You'll be sure to impress friends and co-workers with that little-known fact!
