I fell in love with him when he started appearing on various VH1 anthologies, and my love for him was cemented when I read his book, Wacky Chicks: Life Lessons from Fearlessly Inappropriate and Fabulously Eccentric Women. Simon Doonan, Barneys New York creative director, now brings fashion advice to Chicago women in Michigan Avenue magazine:
"Take that boring interview suit and give it to Goodwill. If you are going on a job interview, wear a DVF or Lanvin party dress. Nobody wants to hire a chick in a prison wardress uniform. It's important to look optimistic and upbeat, especially in these dreary times."
Feel free to insert your favorite H&M label when he mentions designers, or think of a consignment shop to head to for fashions at a fraction of the price. I've also seen a nice assortment of Diane Von Furstenberg dresses at the Nordstorm Rack on State Street.
Did I mention that in a later quote he calls breakfast "brekkie"?
Simon Doonan for president!
